SMEs pursuing net zero are encouraged to register for one of Green Economy’s Peer Group cohorts.

The purpose of the Peer Groups is to engage 100 businesses in a bid to encourage collaboration between organisations facing common challenges and opportunities in achieving net zero.

Taking place across 10 cohorts, sessions will focus on a variety of sustainability concepts that are essential for businesses working towards net zero, including scope 3 emissions, investing in green technologies, engaging with your landlord for retrofit projects, sustainable transport and biodiversity net gain.

Net zero represents a £74bn opportunity for the UK, and businesses invested in net zero with clear sustainability strategies can unlock the benefits of net zero, including increased competitiveness, stronger environmental credentials, and a clearer understanding of one’s entire value chain which will effectively inform decisions.

Catriona Watson, Net Zero Training Manager at Green Economy says Preparing your organisation for net zero can be daunting at first. There are a lot of strategies and concepts out there which can quickly overwhelm business leaders as they develop their sustainability plans. The Peer Groups are designed to address these initial challenges through collaboration, sharing expertise from organisations who have made real progress with their net zero journey.”

Tapping into the expertise of Green Economy’s net zero consultants and certified educators, each session will follow the formal of a design thinking “double diamond,” moving through divergent and convergent thinking exercises to identify shared challenges and successes.

Olivia Downham, Sustainability and Net Zero Consultant at Green Economy says “Peer networks and coordinated efforts are effective tools that SMEs can use to drive their decarbonisation projects and goals. By getting together with other organisations pursuing similar goals, you can gain a broader understanding of the challenges that might be ahead, better equipping your business to overcome and achieve net zero.”
