Hydrogen Week UK will make its return in 2025 for its third consecutive year, continuing its mission to spotlight the critical role hydrogen plays in helping the UK reach its net zero emissions targets. The event, scheduled from Monday 24th February to Sunday 2nd March 2025, promises to be the most ambitious yet, offering opportunities for schools, universities, SMEs, community groups and larger organisations to participate in a range of activities.

Spearheaded by the North West Hydrogen Alliance (NWHA), Hydrogen Week 2025 will once again unite hydrogen regions across the UK, with leading partners including Hydrogen UK, Net Zero Industry Wales, Hydrogen South West, Hydrogen East, Hydrogen Energy Association and Capital Hydrogen.

Organisations from across the UK are invited to take part by hosting hydrogen-themed events, activities and campaigns. In 2024, events ranged from workshops and university exhibitions to science experiments, virtual reality demonstrations, and even a hydrogen-powered rocket launch. Building on momentum, 2025 aims to engage an even wider audience, building on last year’s impressive participation and further fostering new collaborations across the entire hydrogen ecosystem.

The announcement comes as the new Labour Government recently pressed ahead with carbon capture and storage (CCUS) clusters in the North West and Teesside, as part of a CCUS and hydrogen industry support package totalling up to £21.7bn.

A series of events and activities are planned in the run up to Hydrogen Week 2025 including a webinar on Tuesday 12th November 2024 which will bring together the regional clusters to discuss their plans for 2025 and what the new government can do to support hydrogen collaboration.

Dave Richardson, Interim Chair of the NWHA, said:

“Hydrogen Week returns for its third year, providing the UK with an opportunity to come together and showcase the progress made towards a clean energy future. The hydrogen economy stands as one of the most promising pathways for reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy security, and driving economic growth. It holds the potential to not only significantly contribute to the UK’s net-zero ambitions but also to transform industries and infrastructure.

“This year has seen some positive step forward for hydrogen. The Government have hit the ground running throwing its support behind clusters in the North West and Teesside. So, Hydrogen Week 2025 will be an important UK-wide opportunity for stakeholders to engage, collaborate, and spotlight the vital role hydrogen is set to play in transitioning to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. We are excited to see what 2025 brings.”
